Transfer of Credits
1. All evidence of work or credits earned at another school,
community college or university offered for acceptance shall
be based on an official transcript authenticated by the proper
school authority.
2. Work or credits from non-accredited schools shall be
validated as provided by Board Policies.
Standard Diploma
A standard diploma will be awarded when a pupil has
successfully completed the graduation requirements as set
forth in the Lee County School Board Pupil Progression Plan,
has achieved proficiency in the Sunshine State Standards, and
has passed the Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test.

Certificate of Completion
A Certificate of Completion shall be granted to students after
a minimum of at least twelve years of education (excluding
kindergarten), when a pupil has successfully completed the
district requirements and credits for graduation, but has failed
to achieve the State Performance Standards or to pass the
Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test.
Retaking of Courses
If a student retakes a course to better his/her grade of “D” or“F,” the original grade will not be used in figuring the GPA.
Special Diploma
A special diploma will be awarded when a pupil who is
classified “educable mentally handicapped,” “deaf,” “specific
learning disabled,” or “physically or emotionally
handicapped,” has successfully completed the graduation
requirements as set forth in the Lee County Pupil Progression
Plan and has met the Student Performance Standards
applicable for that exception. Students entering ninth grade in
1999-2000 school year and subsequent years will achieve
proficiency in the Sunshine State Standards for special
diploma as a graduation requirement
Student Day
Each pupil in grades 9-12 must be scheduled for every period
of the day except under unusual circumstances as approved by
the principal or principal designee.
Additional Provisions For Meeting District Standards
1. The equivalent of up to 4 credits earned in adult programs
may be applied to graduation requirements for a day school
program. The same standards for course content and
performance that apply to the credits earned in the regularly
assigned school apply to credits earned in adult or dual
enrollment programs. The principal shall approve adult
subjects taken for day school credit.
2. Full-time early admission allows the pupil to enter college
following completion of grade eleven, substituting two
semesters of college work or its equivalent for the last year of
high school provided that the Florida Comprehensive
Assessment Test (FCAT) has been passed. Early admission
procedures shall be as provided in Chapter VI of Board
Policies.
3. Dual enrollment provides advanced instruction for those
pupils who demonstrate readiness to engage in post secondary
academic work. Students may earn credit towards both a high
school diploma and an associate or baccalaureate degree.
4. The Cooperative Diversified Education Program permits
a pupil who has reached the age of sixteen and has completed
the courses required for graduation, to substitute 288 hours of
supervised work experience for one credit up to a maximum
of five credits.
Grade Point Average
1. A student must earn a cumulative grade point average of
2.0 on a 4.0 scale, or its equivalent, in the courses that make
up the 24 required credits for graduation.
2. In order to be eligible to participate in interscholastic
Extracurricular student activities, a student must maintain a
cumulative grade point average of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale or its
equivalent. The student standards for participation in
interscholastic extracurricular activities shall be applied after
the completion of the first semester of the 9th grade. Each
student must meet such other requirements for participation as
may be established by the school district.
3. A student enrolled in a full year course will receive one half
credit if one semester of the course is successfully
completed and the averaging of the grades in each half would
not result in a passing grade. A full credit is earned in a full
year course if one half is successfully completed and the
averaging of the grades in each half result in a passing grade,
provided that any additional requirements by the school board
are met.
Graduation by Examination (GED)
Pupils who are at least eighteen years of age may take the
General Education Development (GED) Tests. A regular day
school pupil successfully completing the tests shall be issued a
state high school diploma and shall be considered a high
school graduate. The District School Board may determine
exceptions to the specified age limit.
Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test
As part of the implementation of the Accountability Act, the
Department of Education has developed State Performance
Standards in reading, writing and mathematics. Pupil
achievement of these state standards will be tested by the state
at grade nine and ten. Student must earn a passing score on
the grade 10 Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test (FCAT)
before a high school diploma is issued.
Exceptional Student Education
Students eligible for and officially placed in an Exceptional
Student Education program must successfully complete
minimum credit requirements through special Exceptional
Student Education standards for graduation. A Special
Diploma for handicapped students will be awarded for
successful achievement. All handicapped students may
compete for a standard diploma by meeting the requirements
prescribed for the standard diploma.
Homebound and Hospitalized Program
The Homebound and Hospitalized Program (HHP) has been
established to provide instruction to the pupil who must be out
of school for at least three weeks due to illness or
convalescence, as certified by a licensed physician,
psychiatrist, or clinical psychologist.
Lee Adolescent Mothers Program (LAMP)
LAMP is a three-fold program concerned with the student’s
academic, health, and social adjustment during her pregnancy
and postpartum period. A special program in health and
childcare has been developed for every LAMP student. The
LAMP school is located at 3650 Michigan Avenue, Fort
Myers.
Bilingual Education Program
The bilingual/ESOL program is designed to provide assistance
to students where the primary language spoken in the home is
other than English. ESOL is the method of instruction used in
this program.
The Florida Virtual High School
Qualified students may take a class online from The Florida
Virtual High School. Internet access is required. Online
courses carry the same weight and credit as traditional courses
taught in a public school classroom. School administrators
and guidance counselors can provide details to interested
students.
