Senior Awards Ceremony, Thursday, May 18 – Planning to give an award?

The class of 2017 Senior Awards Celebration will take place on Thursday, May 18 at 7:00 PM in the FMHS auditorium.  If your community organization or institution is planning on giving an award(s) that evening, please register by using the link below.  The deadline to register is Friday, May 12.  If you have not received a confirmation e-mail by Monday, May 15, please e-mail Jennifer Tomlinson [email protected] and use the title “Senior Awards” in the subject line.

Florida Virtual College Week: Online, Free, State-Sponsored, Expert Advice

FloridaShines will host its first ever Virtual College Week. The live three-day event will feature presentations from experts in the area of college preparation, admissions, financial aid and more. Representatives from the Florida College System, State University System, Florida Department of Education and others will participate.


High School Students: College 101
Wednesday, April 5, 2017, 4:00 p.m.-6:00 p.m. ET

Get insight on the admissions process, find out how to earn college credit while you're still in high school, and learn what resources are available to help you succeed in college.  This session will cover all the steps you need to take during your senior year in high school to get into and pay for the college or university of your choice!

FAFSA: Your Gateway to Financial Aid

If you need college money, and fast, the FAFSA provides resources for finding reliable student aid.  Learn the secret to filling out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), and get some assistance while completing your form!

The 2017 Summer Literacy Adventure is geared to help children stay on target, motivated and excited about reading and literacy. During summer vacation, it is important for students of all ages and reading levels to spend time reading and writing on a regular basis. Please download the flyer here. 

Arts for Life! annually awards $1,000 scholarships to 25 graduating high school seniors in Florida who demonstrate excellence in one of the following art forms:

  • creative writing
  • dance
  • drama
  • music
  • visual art

Application Period:

The 2016-17 application period is September 1-February 1.

Eligibility:

High school students who are graduating from a public, private, or virtual school or a home education program in Florida during the current academic year.
